SEPTEMBER IN KEFALONIA: CALM SEAS & SOFT LIGHT

SEPTEMBER, SOFTENED

September brings a quieter expression of summer to F ZEEN KEFALONIA. The sea retains its warmth, the light softens and the days are still lived outdoors. Here, the season unfolds between the Ionian and the surrounding landscape.

MORNINGS OUTDOORS

Mornings begin in the open air. Practice yoga as the first light reaches the Ionian, train among the trees or follow a trail into the landscape while the air is still cool. For a longer morning, walk beyond the retreat through olive groves and along coastal paths. Return for a swim, with the rest of the day still ahead.

BY THE IONIAN

At F ZEEN KEFALONIA, the sea is part of the day without having to leave the retreat. Step straight onto Lourdas Beach for a morning swim, settle beneath the shade with everything you need close by, then stay barefoot for lunch at the beach bar. The Ionian remains just a few steps away, making it easy to move between swimming, lunch and time by the water without leaving the serenity of the retreat.

KEFALONIA BEACHES IN SEPTEMBER

September is an ideal time to explore more of Kefalonia’s coastline. The water remains warm while the beaches become quieter, making this one of the most rewarding months for swimming on the island. Head north to Myrtos, framed by white pebbles and dramatic limestone cliffs, or east to Antisamos, where clear water and forested hills create a beautiful setting for swimming and snorkelling. For something more secluded, Fteri is best approached from the sea. Spend the day aboard a private yacht, dropping anchor in quiet coves and swimming along one of Kefalonia’s most striking stretches of coastline.

THE CHANGE OF SEASON

September brings the grape harvest to Kefalonia, when Robola grapes are gathered from the limestone soils that give the island’s native wine its distinctive character. It is also a time when the kitchen begins to reflect the subtle change of season. At Selini Bar & Restaurant, evenings remain outdoors. Seasonal produce, local ingredients and the day’s catch shape a Mediterranean menu rooted in the island, with much of its character coming from what is available at its best. Reserve your table beneath the evening sky and pair dinner with a bottle of Kefalonian Robola. The air is still warm enough to stay long after the plates have been cleared.

Book your stay at F ZEEN KEFALONIA and discover days shaped by the sea, movement and the season.
